Jerome Awarded $18K by the Yavapai-Apache Nation

2/5/2019

The Town of Jerome has been awarded $18,050.50 in "Prop 202" funding by the Yavapai-Apache Nation.

Proposition 202, the "Indian Gaming Preservation and Self-Reliance Act," provides that a portion of the gaming funds received by the Tribes shall be contributed to cities, towns and counties for government services that benefit the general public, including public safety, mitigation of impacts of gaming, and promotion of commerce and economic development. Jerome applied for funds this year toward enhancements to community health and safety, which could include upgrading our shuttle van to make it handicapped-accessible, improvements to our Civic Center to facilitate the provision of community health services (including mental health services), and/or providing for a visiting nurse. The award will be presented to the Council at the April 9 Council meeting.

The Town has received Prop 202 funds in the past for Upper Park improvements, a new shuttle van, completion of our horseshoe pits and new benches and picnic tables.
