SEEKING BOARD MEMBERS!

Council will be making appointments to each of the Town boards at the February 11, 2025, Regular Council Meeting. PUBLIC SAFETY PERSONNEL RETIREMENT SYSTEM (PSPRS):

The local PSPRS Board is vested with the administration of the PSPRS system and responsibility for making the provisions of said system as outlined in Arizona Revised Statutes, including but not limited to: deciding questions of eligibility for membership and disability, and in the line of duty death benefits under the system; establishing procedures to be followed by claimants; making a determination as to the right of any claimant to a disability and in the line of duty death benefit; and other such responsibilities.

The Board typically meets semi-annually on a time and date that works for the Board members unless a meeting to determine eligibility is required.  The term for each Board member is four (4) years. The next opening is for a term that expires on 11/22/26. 

 

PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION:

The Planning and Zoning Commission was established to help formulate and administer lawful plans adopted by the Town Council relating to the present and future growth and development of the Town. The Commission consists of five members appointed by the Town Council, each of whom must reside in Jerome. The commissioners serve three-year terms. 

Regular Commission meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month, beginning at 6 p.m.

 

DESIGN REVIEW BOARD:

The purpose of the Design Review Board is to review the exterior design of new buildings and structures, the alteration of buildings and structures, landscaping plans, signs, and proposed demolition of structures within the Historic Overlay District in order to ensure that new development is compatible with the surrounding environment and to preserve and protect the historic character of the Town of Jerome. The Board consists of five members, each of whom must be a resident of Jerome with design background, training or experience. Members serve three-year terms.

Regular Board meetings are held on the on the fourth Tuesday of each month, beginning at 6p.m.

 

BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT:

The Board of Adjustment hears and decides appeals in which it is alleged there is an error in an order, requirement or decision made by the zoning administrator in the enforcement of the zoning ordinance, and hears and decides appeals for variances from the terms of the zoning ordinance if, because of special circumstances applicable to the property, the strict application of the zoning ordinance will deprive such property of privileges enjoyed by other property of the same classification in the same zoning district. Members must be residents of Jerome, and serve three-year terms.  The Board meets when needed, typically on the first Tuesday of the month, and at least once per year.
