Primary Election date has changed

This is an update to the election candidate post from December 26th.  On February 9, 2024, the Governor signed HB 2785 into law.  This impacted certain State election laws, including the creation of a new primary date effective immediately.  The new primary date is July 30, 2024.  The Town has updated candidate packets available, and those that have taken out packets already were notified of the change and the impact on any petitions already completed.

New water and sewer rates to take effect on February 1

Following extensive analyses over the past several years, numerous requests for public input, and a public hearing on November 13, 2023, the Town will be adjusting water and sewer rates for all users to account for the increasing cost of providing services, along with the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant.

Avoid frozen pipes!

Now that winter is officially here, our Public Works department would like to remind you to avoid frozen pipes by leaving a tap dripping whenever temperatures dip below freezing. When it's bitter cold outside, start a drip of water from all faucets served by exposed pipes. Leaving a few faucets running slightly will also relieve pressure inside the pipes and help prevent a rupture in the event that the water inside freezes.

Candidate Packets available for the 2024 Primary Election as of 12/28/2023.

The five (5) member seats of the Jerome Town Council, which includes the Mayor and Vice-Mayor, will be open for the upcoming primary election being held on August 6, 2024.  All seats are elected to a two-year term.  Candidate Packets are available at the Jerome Town Hall beginning Thursday, December 28th, 2023, during normal business hours.  Interested candidates must sign for a packet.  Please also note the legal requirement for completing and filing a Statement of Interest with the Town clerk prior to obtaining any signatures on the Nomination Petition Paperwork.

Grant Awarded for Planning & Design of Verde Avenue reconstruction

The Town of Jerome is pleased to announce that it has been awarded an Arizona Smart Fund Grant by the Arizona State Transportation Board for the complete Planning and Design of the reconstruction of Verde Avenue.  The grant award is for $219,733, with no local match required.  The Town will subsequently be submitting an application for the total reconstruction of Verde Avenue, for which the Arizona Department of Transportation will be administrating and overseeing the design elements.

Water Restrictions lifted effective immediately

With October upon us and all of the town's water tanks operating at normal capacity, Demand Reduction Strategy 1 water restrictions are hereby lifted effective immediately. Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this longer than usual period of time that the Town has been under water restrictions.

Notice of Intention to Increase Water and Wastewater Rates or Rate Components, Fees or Service Charges and Setting a Date for a Public Hearing on the Proposed Increase

Please take note that pursuant to A.R.S. §9-511.01, notice is hereby given that the Jerome Town Council will consider and possibly adopt increase fees and rates for water and wastewater services, and potentially alter the billing method for certain users. The proposed rates, fees or charges and rate components are based on a report provided by the Town’s utility rate consultant, Dan Jackson, of Economists.com, which includes annual increases beginning on January 1, 2024.

Jerome Civic Center Studio Space Available

The Town of Jerome has an immediate availability for rental of a studio space at Jerome Town Hall / Civic Center.  The space has ground level access, with plenty of windows providing ample amount of natural lighting.  The space is rectangular in shape and measures approximately 20.5 x 30.5 (630 sq ft approx.).  The anticipated rental fee will be $0.44-$0.50 / square foot per month, but will be set by the Town Council and may differ based on proposed usage and Town needs.
