Call for Volunteers!

Just in time for All Souls Day, Jerome is seeking volunteers to bring new life (pardon the pun) to our historic cemetery that is located on Minerich Road in Clarkdale, sometimes known as “The Old Pioneer Cemetery.” While some gravesites there are maintained, most are not. Many are overgrown with weeds and brush, grave markers are broken or in poor condition, and boundaries of individual graves are difficult to determine.

Many Jerome residents were buried there, primarily between 1917 and 1939. We would like to honor those who have been laid to rest by clearing weeds and brush, cleaning grave markers and generally tidying up the cemetery. We would also like to document the gravesites and their inhabitants to whatever extent may be possible.

If you would like to assist with this project, or if you have information about who is or may be buried there, please contact Joni at Jerome Town Hall. This will be a long-term project and we hope to maintain a group of committed volunteers to maintain the graveyard on a regular basis.

Thank you!
